MONEY TALKS | Top 3 Categories To Buy Wholesale

Writer's picture: DanielleDanielle

In the last few articles, we dove in head first thinking about and planning for our future. It’s exciting, but it can sometimes be overwhelming. I know, I’ve been there in the past. Do you need a break? I’ve got you covered! Today, we are discussing something we all love to do and that is shop! Normally finance articles talk about ways to save and what you should stop buying. Not today, friend! Today, we are talking about what to buy – wholesale that is.

Are you a member of BJs, Costco or another wholesale store? Have you considered becoming a member? In New York that can sometimes be tough. Depending on what part of the city you’re in BJs or Costco may not be nearby or maybe you use public transportation instead of owning your own vehicle. But why make the effort to shop wholesale?

  1. Saving money. There is no comparison in price with the local grocery store, especially for the items listed below. Prices on items vary by location, but buying wholesale definitely saves a lot.

  2. The convenience of not running out of an item for months. Covid-19 has proven how important this is and none of us know when or if a second wave will hit. Other countries have already experienced it so it’s a good idea to stock up on essentials. Nothing overboard, don’t go crazy, just stock up. 😊

  3. Time saving. Not running out of essentials means less trips to the store and less re-usable bags to carry for our normal grocery days. And BJs delivers so you can also order online. This is perfect for families that don’t have a personal vehicle.

What are the items/categories that can save you money?

  1. Cleaning Supplies: This includes household cleaners, laundry detergent, dish detergent, trash bags and the like.

  2. General Personal Care: This includes toothbrushes, tissue, toothpaste and more. If you have any special items that you order from a specific website then by all means continue (I do 😊) but this list is for everything else. For example, we buy toothbrushes and tissue from BJs but toothpaste from a natural company online. Either way is fine, but what you can get wholesale please do!

  3. Non-Perishables: This last one is a doosie, but everything that does not go in the refrigerator or freezer right away. Including Kcups, mixed nuts or other snacks, ketchup, honey, oils, water, juice and the list goes on.

There are definitely more areas where you can save including groceries and frozen foods, but items generally only apply if you have a large family or a second freezer for long term storage. Be careful not to buy the extra-large bag of salad only for it to go bad. BJs and other wholesale stores have more to offer as well including clothing and electronics. If you haven’t already, check it out!

Feel free to walk into any BJs or Costco without a membership, check prices for yourself and decide if it’s a good for you. As always, you got this!

Until Next Time,

Crystal
