We educators understand how difficult this time of remote learning has been. You are now the homeroom teachers for your children while trying to support your families and work remotely yourselves. There are many resources out there to help, and this is the first in a series of articles where I will be sharing teaching tools you can use to help your little ones learn while at home!

This is a scary time for everyone, but especially children. Their routines have been completely unrooted, and we know children thrive when they have structure and routine. Parents should talk to their children about the virus and let them know what they can expect as school closures continue for the remainder of the school year. With this in mind, the first tool I am sharing is one that will help you to talk to your children about COVID-19. The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) has created a resource to help parents discuss COVID-19 in age appropriate ways and lists several simple, honest, and accurate talking points to make it easier for you. That resource can be found here

As summer is quickly approaching, summer school and activities are on everyone’s mind. I will be back soon with some tools parents can use to teach their children during the summer.
